Norwalk Fire Department Now Accepting Applications

NORWALK, Conn. -- Think you have what it takes to rush to the scene of a fire? The Norwalk Fire Department has your opportunity.

The department is accepting applications for entry-level firefighters for anyone interested in taking the exam on Dec. 5. Prospective firefighters can submit an application up until Oct. 31 and can do so by visiting the City of Norwalk's official website.

Registration and payments are required prior to the day of the test. Applicants passing the department’s written test will proceed to an oral interview. Those who rate high will be required to complete the Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT).

The Norwalk Fire Department will help applicants prepare with a host of outreach and orientation sessions in the weeks leading up to the written test. Applicants interested in learning more are encouraged to visit the department’s recruitment table at Norwalk Seaport Association's 38th Annual Oyster Festival from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 13 on Seaview Ave. in Norwalk. There will also be a free Fire, Police and Department of Public Works open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 19 at 15 S. Smith St.
